When I was a kid, my family made a big deal out of Christmas. We use to go to the Toronto Santa Claus Parade and stand in the cold, with steaming hot chocolate in tumblers, waiting with excitement for Santa Claus to pass by and wave at us. I have such incredibly wonderful memories of those times, that as I’m telling you this, I have tears of happiness in my eyes right now. It’s actually making it a little difficult to type. While watching the Toronto Santa Claus Parade was a highlight of the day, my brother and I use to really look forward to coming home afterward because it meant that we were going to put up the Christmas tree and start decorating. My dad use to put on one of his many Christmas records, my favourite was always Christmas with Boney M, and we would literally deck the halls…and the living room, and the kitchen, pretty much every room. While I’ve moved away and no longer go to the Santa Claus Parade in Toronto, I still look forward to cranking up the Christmas music and decorating my home. I can’t believe it’s already November 1st. Geez, Louise did this year ever fly by. Guys, there’s only two more months left in 2017, crazy. And it’s also gift-giving season. The Holidays are my absolute favourite time of the year. Snow falling, cool weather, Santa visits, and of course, gift giving. Let it be said, I enjoy giving gifts more than receiving. I mean, it’s really nice to receive gifts, and I’m definitely grateful all of it, I just enjoy watching people eyes light up when I give them something that they wouldn’t get for themselves or something that they absolutely wanted or needed so much more. There is such joy in it, which is why I always donate toys to toy drives, food to food drives, surprise people with gifts from “Santa”, etc. It truly makes me happy to make others happy. BUT I also know that sometimes it’s not easy to figure out that perfect gift for that special somebody. Honesty time, I’m not a fan of raw carrots, especially plain raw carrots. Disgusting. I used to cover them in some sort of dip or I fed them to my dog, Lady. HAPPY NEW YEAR, Friends!!!! I hope that you enjoyed yourself. Chris and I had a quiet new years eve of wine, cheese, and baby snuggles with puppy pets. Each year it seems I make resolutions that I don’t really keep but this year I’m determined to try a little harder. I even wrote them down in my planner with deadlines!

So what do I have planned for this year, TONS. I’ve decided that there are a few things I want to do this year.

Train for half-marathon

Focus on my yoga practice

Pay down debt

Play more guitar

Learning

Take a sewing course

Complete the A Beautiful Mess Photography Course

Post a blog post at least 3x a week

Create a content calendar and treat my blog like a business

Family

Take family walks 5x week

Enrol Wendy in Swimming Lessons

Start a college fund for the little munchkin

Plan a date night (or date) at least 2x a month

So those are my goals/resolutions, whatever you would like to call them for 2017. We plan on making 2017 a great year! You can make your new year great too!
