Two clear glasses of mulled red wine with cranberries and a slice of orange

Tis the season for cozy sweaters, warm blankets, and mulled wine. After attending the Toronto Christmas market last year and experiencing a sweet and warn cup of mulled wine during a winter’s eve with twinkling light hanging above me, I knew I wanted to create my own magical experience at home.

This recipe of pulls in all the wonderful flavours of the season and only takes a little bit of time to make. It’s perfect for a small gathering or double the recipe and it’ll be a hit at your next Christmas party. Any leftovers, just refill your empty bottles and  open them up at your next holiday event or when you tune in to the next Hallmark Christmas movie.

Two clear glasses of mulled red wine with cranberries and a slice of orange

All you need are two bottles of red wine, 2 oranges, a few sticks of cinnamon, cloves, ginger, brown sugar, and star anise. Stir it all together in a large pot and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Let simmer for 20 minutes or more. The longer it simmers the more the flavours with fuse together.

Christmas decor through the years. It's really fu Christmas decor through the years. It's really fun to look back at the years and see my Christmas style evolve. I don't really do big themes that change from year to year. I find that rather wasteful, instead I focus on stories. Pieces that speak to us as a family, ornaments that tell a story either related to an experience or a nod to each of us as individuals. How do you decorate for Christmas?
