Happy Sunday! I hope you guys are enjoying the wonderful and very warm weather this weekend. I know I am loving and am grateful for the fact that we have an air conditioner! Since summer is starting to feel so close, I felt like now would be a great time to share a new series I have been working on, the Caesar Series! In case you don’t know, a Caesar is the Canadian version of a Bloody Mary. Instead of tomato juice, we use Clamato juice *amazing.* It really is a Canadian classic.

Since I’m pregnant, I don’t drink any Caesar that contains alcohol, but Chris still can and I love making them for him. So the last time he asked me to make him a caesar, I pulled a scotch from his scotch cabinet and let the inspiration flow. Thus creating my Smokey Scotch Caesar!

What you’ll need:

  • A Tall Glass
  • 5 squirts of Lime juice
  • 8 squirts of Lemon juice
  • 3 squirts of Liquid Smoke
  • 10 squirts of Worcestershire sauce
  • Caesar Rimmer
  • 3 squirts of Tabasco
  • 1 shot or more of Laphoraig Scotch
  • enough Clamato Juice to fill the rest of the glass
  • celery stalk  for garnish

How To:

  1. Pour some rimmer into a small bowl *make sure you glass rim fits in the bowl first* and then pour lemon juice around the rim of your glass. This will allow the caesar rimmer to stick to the rim of your glassSmokey-Scotch-Caesar-0002
  2. Now mix the rest of the ingredients together in your glass, adding the Clamato juice last.
  3. Add a pinch of caesar rimmer to the actual caesar.
  4. Add the celery stalk and mix.
  5. ENJOY!

There you have it. A fabulous Canadian classic with a twist. Just to note, you can use any scotch you have in your cabinet, but I recommend using Laphroaig for this caesar as it has a more peaty taste that mixes very well with the liquid smoke. Chris has taught me so much about scotch, it’s kinda scary….

When I served this to Chris, he absolutely loved it. He said it was the perfect balance of a smokey and sweet flavour, with a subtle whiskey taste. Then it was gone in the blink of an eye….
