I’m sure that you’ve probably heard all the horrible stories of wedding guests getting in the way of professional photographers at weddings. And I’m sure that you’ve probably been given the advice to have an unplugged wedding day to prevent that situation from happening, but I totally recommend that you encourage your guests to take as many photos as possible and then asking that they send them to you. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
When we were planning our wedding, I looked for just about every excuse to get creative and I mean every excuse from the Disney FastPass table settings to homemade. So when Chris’ bachelor party date was finalized, I quickly put together some bachelor party survival kits, with everything Chris and his friends would need to survive the night and inevitable hangover.
One of the best vacations we have ever taken as a couple sans kids has to be our honeymoon at Sandals La Source Grenada. Back when Chris and I were just dating, we took a vacation to a Sandals resort in Cuba, which unfortunately is no longer owned by Sandals, but we loved every single minute of that trip. So when it came time to pick a honeymoon location, we knew that we wanted to keep it in the Sandals family. They offered a military discount, plus because we had stayed with them before, we were part of their Sandals Select Rewards Program, which allows us to collect points to use towards future Sandals/Beaches vacations. Initially, we booked at the Grande in St. Lucia but when we received an email informing us of their brand new resort in Grenada, we jumped on it. We moved our reservation over and we don’t regret it one bit!
So wedding season is fast approaching, and each year I can’t help but think back to the day that Chris and I promised to live by each other’s mutual weirdness for the rest of our lives. Our day was full of laughter, cheers, and good times. Oh and pies, donuts, and hot dogs…just saying. We tried to DIY as much as we could. My girls and I spent hours making ceremony ribbon sticks, collecting books, making a giant gold heart, baking pies. Chris and I made our kissing game wheel (wasn’t as difficult as many would have thought), I baked and decorated our wedding cake, and the list can go on. I know that wedding season is slowly coming to an end but I guess I’ve been thinking more and more about our rustic DIY wedding day lately. It’s probably because Baby Girl will be gracing us with her presence soon and it’s amazing to think about how our lives are going to change when she comes. So yes, the day that labeled us partners for life has been on my mind recently so I figured I would share the details of our day with you.
Wow it’s crazy how quickly this year is flying by, it’s already JUNE!! Wedding season is in full gear, well not for me. Chris and I will be celebrating our 2nd anniversary on June 21st! Two wonderful and beautiful years of marriage. But I totally remember what it was like planning our day. If you’re like me then it’s a must to add a little pixie dust to your magical day. That’s exactly what Chris and I did. We wanted our wedding day to be a true reflection of us, from handmade favours to homemade pies, to candy bowls on each table. Everything was handpicked by us. Since the Disney Parks seem to be our go-to family vacation, although if you ask Chris he would love to see Sandals take that title, we had to include Disney touches to our day.
