Grateful Mondays: June 12, 2017

It’s Monday so here’s another grace in small things list. These weeks are just flying by and I seem to be getting closer to the end of my maternity leave, which is leaving me with a ton of anxiety. Anyways, here’s this week’s list!

  • watching Wendy try to swim in the pool during her swimming lessons
  • the smell of a fresh pot of brewed coffee bright and early in the morning
  • sipping on some raspberry mint water during a hot day

What are you grateful for today? Comment below and let me know, or tell me on facebook or twitter (@WithLoveFromBex), or tag me on Instagram (@withlovefrombex). I would love to know what makes you smile.

Happy Monday, Friends!

I know that most people have their yearly resolutions in January…the New Year and all…well I don’t really subscribe to that. I seem to make my resolutions throughout the year.  Anyways, this year I am hoping to really push myself. Recently a few life changes have made me feel like I need to seize the moment more, better myself more often and be the best darn person I can be. So I figured that the way I would go about my resolutions this year is by tackling the things that I’m afraid of, like writing. Read More

Writing Series: What is your favourite quote?

Today’s blog challenge actually took me a while…there are so many quotes that I have identified with at different points in my life. Quotes are like song lyrics and musical notes to me, I connect to them depending on what’s happening in my life and my moods. So I did what any other millennial would do, and checked my facebook About page for quotes that I had forgotten about until now….yup that happened….

This is what I found,

“Before anyone can fight for you, you must learn to fight for yourself.”

Live your life knowing that the best is yet to come 🙂

“If this is not what you expected, please alter your expectations.”

“The very things that hold you down are going to lift you up!” ~ Dumbo

“In Germany, they first came for the Communists; I did not speak because I was not a Communist. Then they came for the Jews; I did not speak because I was not a Jew. Then they came to fetch the workers, members of trade unions; I was not a trade unionist. Afterward, they came for the Catholics; I did not say anything because I was a Protestant. Eventually, they came for me, and there was no one left to speak.”
-Pastor Martin Niemoller, a Protestant minister imprisoned during Germany’s Third Reich

“Thou shalt not be a victim. Thou shalt not be a perpetrator. Above all, thou shalt not be a bystander.”
– Holocaust Museum, Washington, D.C.

After reading them, I have to say these might still be my favorite. Each one touches a part of my personality and became mantras for some very rough times.
Do you have a favorite quote?

Writing Series: Day 4 – Life List

Life is short, we all know that. We all have goals, aspirations, adventures that we want to accomplish before we die. I’m no different. There are tons of things I want to do and see in my lifetime. I know that I won’t do all of them, maybe I won’t even get to do the majority of these things, but it gives me hope. My life list serves as a focus point for me when it feels like I’m not going anywhere in life. It gives me hope and gives me a sense of accountability. Maybe by writing them down and sharing it with you, I will be more likely to seek out these adventures rather than retreat to the introvert that I am.

So here it is, my Life List. It’s not a list set in stone, it has changed so many times but here it is now. I think I’ll actually attach this to my About page and come back to it every now and then to cross things off or add to it.

My Favourite Childhood Book

I have loved a good book for as long as I can remember. Hours spent getting lost in adventures, getting to know parts of myself, and riding emotional roller coasters with every turn of a crisp page. Reading might be my favourite way to escape and find adventures without ever leaving the comfort of home. I honestly don’t know what started my love of reading but I do remember my favourite childhood book and how much it influenced me and the path I chose to go.Read More
