There’s something so sweet and satisfying about the first bite of an apple crisp dessert. It just screams comfort to me and being that I’m a pretty anxious person who loves comfort food, it should come as no surprise to anyone that I have about 4 of these 2 serving apple crisps frozen in my freezer right now. These are the easier desserts to keep in your freezer. Whether you have some surprise guests come over or you’re expecting a little one, these freezer friendly apple crisps will make dessert time so much easier.

This is the perfect dessert for the Fall and it’s so simple to put together. It tastes amazing when warm and served with a scope of vanilla ice cream. Plus make a bunch of these and pop them into your freezer for Fall. Then when September 1st comes around and you start to get all the fall feels, pull one out of the freezer, thaw it and bake it in the oven.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Apples

  • 5 cups apples, sliced
  • 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg

For the topping

  • 4 cups flour
  • 4 cups brown sugar
  • 2 cups oats
  • 2 cups butter, cut into small cubes
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Cut the apple into slices and place them in a large bowl.
  2. Combine apples, lemon juice, 1/4 cup of brown sugar, 2tbsp of flour, 1/2 tsp of cinnamon, and 1/8 tsp of nutmeg.
  3. Divide apple mixture evenly into freezable aluminum trays. I managed to get 6 trays filled.
  4. Now for the crumble combine the flour, brown sugar, oats, cinnamon, and nutmeg together.
  5. Then cut in the butter. I actually use my hands to combine the cold butter into the mix. I just find it a lot easier to do it that way.
  6. Once combined, divide the mixture evenly among the trays.

To Bake:

  1. Thaw the apple crisp
  2. Set oven to 350 degrees F
  3. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, uncovered.
